Live Music, lots of dirt bikes, and a bunch of crew that aren’t afraid of a little mud, rocks, and obstacles… Now that’s fun! Topping it off with a massive mash-up by a couple of awesome rock crawlers makes it even better. This one is running in its entirety on Local Maui TV – Akaku Channel 55. Check listings at akaku.org or call (808) 871-5554 for air dates and times.
Jaws Peahi Maui Hawaii Opening Day November 13 2013. Huge Paddle In Sessions set a new precedent in surfing history as Shane Dorian, Mark Healey, Ian Walsh, Ahanu Tson-dru, Marcio Freire, Greg Long and a few promising young guns like DK Walsh re-defined what is possible in big wave paddle in surfing. Ahanu Tson-dru’s XXL wipeout is at the end of the clip and I kept the camera rolling the entire time with natural sound. You can see him pop up in the video after what seems like an eternity and jump on a jet ski. His inflatable vest was still intact as was his will to succeed despite playing tag with the reef on one of the heaviest wipeouts of the year.
The Xterra Triathlon season culminates in the final leg of competition at Maui’s Ritz Carlton at Flemming’s beach in beautiful Kapalua. For this event I had the privilege of providing underwater footage as well as completing the highlight reel edit. Special thanks to all the competitors who lay it on the line to wow their fans and push their bodies to the limit.
Shooting timelapse of the sunrise at the top of Mt. Haleakala was pretty awesome. Being part of a new documentary featuring the trials and tribulations of big wave surfer Ahanu Tsondru is an honor beyond compare. Ahanu (seen in the video) suffered a traumatic brain injury on a huge wipeout at Jaws and experienced amnesia, loss of balance, and nausea for years before being properly diagnosed.
This video is about what green sea turtles eat while hanging out in Hawaii on Maui dodging sharks and kiteboarders from above and below. This video was shot on the Panasonic GH3 with 7-14mm Ultra- wide angle zoom lens in a Nauticam NA-GH3 under water housing with dome port. Enjoy..
The Drivers rocked the after hours promo shoot with about 20 top 40 songs belted out like they made them up. This is a super cool group of Maui musicians who play mainly cover songs at Weddings, Parties, Birthdays, Corporate Events, etc… I loved this shoot because I got to use some of my favorite lenses, a bunch of stage lights, and even brought out the jib arm.
Good food, good vibes, the mayor, the governor, and cake! Lipoa Street Farmer’s Market had a birthday and Mantis Productions was there to get the goods on some good organic food, fruits, and vegetables and a pledge by Governor Abercrombie to move Hawaii into a more sustainable direction.
